Community Hospital Parkinson's Services.

Ilkeston hospital has local PD services for local people.
Dr Mylvahan FRCP
is a consultant physician with an interest in medicine for the elderly. Together with Veronica Hunting-Young he has provided regular clinic services for PD patients living in or near Ilkeston. He will be retiring at the end of November 2011 and Dr Skelly will take on his clinic.

Dr Rob Skelly FRCP is a consultant physician and geriatrician with a special interest in Parkinson's Disease. He has a general medical clinic at Ripley Hospital on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. He also sees patients attending the Babington Hospital Day Unit in Belper.

Veronica Hunting-Young is Neurology Specialist Nurse for Derbyshire County PCT covering the south part of the county. She provides post-diagnosis counselling, and follow up services for PD patients at Ripley Hospital and Ilkeston Hospital.

Ripley Hospital is the base for Amber Valley Neurological Outpatient service.  Ruth Cutts, Senior Physiotherapist, and Theresa Barratt, Senior Occupational Therapist, provide an outpatient/outreach service to people with Parkinson's Disease who have a GP within the Amber Valley area.They also run an Education and Exercise group for people with Parkinson's Disease. This is a 6 week course which runs approximately 3 times per year. 

The community hospital services are provided by Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust. The PCT and Derby Hospitals Foundation Trust work closely together through the Southern Derbyshire PD Steering Group.
